DOER Marine

Gulf of Mexico ROV Support

DOER was engaged to support ROV expeditions in the Gulf of Mexico following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The University of Connecticut’s Kraken ROV was utilized as its 1000m depth rating made it was one of the few science dedicated assets capable of reaching deeper areas where sub surface oil had been detected. A deep water lander was also utilized. Observing, sampling and monitoring of deep water corals were the primary objectives. DOER provided both piloting and technical support for the ROV system to support of the University’s own ROV personnel
